Catherine McFadden (née Taylor) (1900—April 2, 1957) was the mother of Casper and Jade McFadden and the wife of John Thomas "J.T. McFadden.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Catherine was born in the early 1900s before World War I. She was the youngest of three children. Her other family members where her sister, Sarah was born in 1887, James in 1892, and Daniel in 1895 after the American Civil War.
Sometime later, her mother passes away, dying in childbirth. Since her birth, Catherine was to marry JT McFadden. She refused him, but in the year 1918, right after World War I. Catherine Taylor meets John Thomas McFadden and they marry out of not only their parents' but also out of their own consent. Their first son is born in 1930s beginning of the World War II.
Around 1942, Catherine's son dies of pneumonia and is unware of her second child. Catherine no longer took interest in her husband's "insanity," so she left taking her unborn child with her. Catherine moved in with her paternal family, notably her brother James and his wife, Delilah. She later gave birth to hers and John's second-born child in 1943.
Final Days and Death[]
In 1956 after the end of World War II, on her death bed, Catherine managed to convince her daughter to find her father's family before she died April , 1957 of the Beginning of the Cold War leaving Jade with no family members but her brothers-in-law, the Ghostly Trio. She reunited with her husband when they went to the afterlife, reconciling their relationship.
Other adaptations[]
- Casper and Jade's original mother was never seen in the original novels concerning Jade and her brother, so it is unknown if she is sister to the Ghostly Trio or their sister-in-law not at all.
- Catherine is renamed Amelia in the My Brother the Ghost series and is the Ghostly Trio's younger sister, making them Casper and Jade's maternal uncles as opposed to their paternal ones.
- Their mother is never named in A Spirited Beginning or Casper and Jade meet Wendy. She was however mentioned by her daughter by dying before the events. She is not related to the trio whatsoever as they adopt Jade and Casper as their niece and nephew.
